I'm sure many of you have read about posts telling you how to have a fulfilling university life before actually entering university. Many of these posts would tell you to go for orientation camps so to make new friends. But do you know, if you are planning to join NTU, one great way to ensure that you have fulfilling uni life is to experience hall stay? And i don't mean just staying at hall; you gotta participate in the hall activities too.

So, why is hall stay such a popular choice among many? It boils down to the 3Cs, as once said by an undergraduate: Convenience, Company and Chance to be independent.

Convenience, something you would really treasure if you live at the opposite end of SIngapore. Staying in hall will ensure that you don't have to wake up extremely early, say 6am or even earlier for some for your morning class. Sometimes you might even find yourself waking up late but still manage to rush in time for your lesson, though that is not something I would encourage. But hey, the extra sleep is always good, isn't it?

Company, something you have 24/7 if you're staying in hall. I can assure you that the company you find here at hall is something that's truly precious and friendships forged here can even be everlasting. For all you know, you might even find your other half here as many of the graduated seniors have done. But of course, to get this company, you gotta truly engage yourself in hall activities, of which I would talk about more in my next upcoming post.

Chance to be independent, something we all gotta experience too, right? We can't always be dependent on our parents, after all. And here at hall, independence is something you would definitely develop. Washing and hanging your own laundries, managing your own meals - either by going to the nearby canteens to eat or cooking at the pantry available in all the halls, cleaning and tidying your own room, all of which would teach you how to be a more independent individual. And for those already independent individuals out there, what better way to enjoy a sense of freedom than staying in halls?

So, what are you guys waiting for? Apply for a hall and sign up for your hall orientation camp once you've gotten accepted into NTU!
