Being an NTU student, it is necessary to be equipped with proper career
skills. It is never to early for a year one student, nor too late for a final
year student to learn such crucial skills. Through this article, we hope that all
of us can be able to survive and be successful in finding a dream job!

The start of everything
First of all, we need to decide which kind of job we are looking for.
Taking your major into consideration is essential. For instance, a business
student might not be a good fit of being an engineer. You are supposed to do
tons of research, so as to find out what jobs you are interested in and which
role suits you best.

Recruitment talks
After deciding your orientation, you are encouraged to attend as many recruitment
talks as possible – this does not mean sitting at the lecture theater, chatting
with your friends, playing with souvenirs or enjoying the buffet merely. It is
significant to gather as much information as you can, keep asking questions
until you are totally crystal clear about the job details. Occasionally, during
the reception, you may be provided with opportunity of networking with the company
managers. Please be reminded, NEVER EVER LET THE CHANCE SLIP AWAY!

Resume
Now, we are heading to the most important step, build your own resume! It
is your name card and it tells the HR what kind of person you are. To create a
nice resume, here are some little tips!
a.
Never forget to add all your IT
skills.
b.
Do not worry if you have no work experience.
Just write your CCA experiences as detailed as you can.
c.
If you are holding or studying for
certificates, it is a plus. Such as CFA, CPA.
d.
Your additional skills, such as photography,
video editing and Photoshop, are sometimes the strengths that HR looks for.

Interview
Congratulations, you
are selected for a face to face interview! This indicates that you have the strength
that makes you outstanding among the candidates, and HR is interested in you! Keep
it embedded in your mind, that you are the best fit for the job, and do not be nervous
during the interview. Answer the question that the interviewee asks appropriately,
if you are not sure about the answer, just be honest. It is not embarrassing if
you are not familiar with the questions. Remember to smile and be sincere, the
interviewee will not frighten you on purpose.
